Back to School Bash 2020

Back to School Bash 2020

Hello Neighbors and Friends,
Since 2009, HOPE Helps, our Interfaith Coalition, local businesses and our generous community have provided thousands of underprivileged children with the school supplies they need for a successful school year. 2020 has provided some unique challenges to the world and our community and as we prepare for our 12th Annual Kids of HOPE Back to School Bash on August 1, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church of Oviedo we need your help!
This year, local children will receive a new backpack full of school supplies, new socks, hygiene products, and some extras to start them off for a safe and productive school year. This amazing event wouldn’t be possible without the support of our community partners. We hope you will consider one or more of the following ways to get involved and help make a difference in the lives of our children and families in need.

Sponsor: To ensure the success of our event, we need the support of our business community. Take a look at the attached Sponsorship Opportunities and choose the level that best fits your organization. As we are sensitive to the fact that many local businesses’ may be facing a change in operations, we are requesting your support in sponsoring full backpacks for children in need in anticipation of school supply collections being lighter this year. For questions, please contact Jackie Nitti at

Host a Collection Box: Host a Kids of HOPE Back to School Bash Collection Box where your customers and co-workers can donate a variety of school supplies. Flyers will be posted that explain how their donation makes a difference for children in our community. The Box will include suggestions for their donations, such as pencils, erasers, notebooks, etc. Click here to confirm interest in hosting a box. Click here for the donation list! For questions, please contact Carolyn Sawaya at

Volunteer! Out of concern for the communities safety we will be providing school supplies in a drive through pick up line this year vs our traditional shopping experience, so our volunteer opportunities will look a little different. There are still many ways to get involved, and we need you to make this event a success. You’ll be able to sign up as an individual or with your group or business. If you’re interested in volunteering before, or during the day of the event, be on the lookout for signup information in the coming weeks or contact Volunteer Manager Tammy Lennox with questions.

Monetary donations or Gift Cards: We are anticipating a reduction in donated school supplies this year and would be grateful for monetary and gift card donations (to stores like Target, Walmart, Staples, or OfficeMax) to purchase items not donated to ensure every child has all their supplies. $50 will provide a child with a complete backpack, but any amount is appreciated. Please visit to donate, or mail checks or gift cards to the address listed below. Please mark checks with Back to School Bash and if paying online add please include in the memo that you’d like your donation to be directed to the Back to School Bash.

All donations are tax-deductible. If you choose to be a Sponsor or Collection Host, your company information will be listed on our website at giving you additional publicity for your business. We could not pull off this wonderful event without our community partners so we want to help you get as much exposure for your contribution as we can, such as social media postings, website placement, and sponsor logos on marketing materials. We appreciate your support!
We are blessed to be embraced by such a wonderful community and we hope you’ll join us in our mission to help families with children in need. Please let us know if you are able to help us again this summer, or if you have any questions. Thank you!
