Since inception HOPE Helps has focused on collaborating with other agencies. We seek ways to support and assist clients with different crises and look for ways to help them rebuild their lives. When we receive a referral, we call the client and assess ways to transition them back to stability. This may vary from providing resources such as contracts for employment agencies, to resources for domestic violence or legal aid.
Recently, we had a referral for Elijah, a gentleman who was going through a life changing event and referred by a local shelter. He went from being a successful business man with a degree to homelessness. In addition, his case manager shared with us that he has been actively looking for work and not found anything.
When we called Elijah we created a tailored case plan that consisted of him contacting employment agencies. He was very diligent in looking for work and eventually secured employment as a director of a golf course. He requested financial assistance to move into a 1 bedroom apartment. Our case managers and staff members had him meet with a financial counselor and attend our financial counseling class where Elijah was successful. After our case manager prepared an individual case plan for him, and he completed his goals, he was then approved for deposit assistance. Elijah was very grateful for the guidance he received from the case managers and the HOPE team. HOPE Helps will continue to follow Elijah on his path to self-sufficiency.
