Each year, HOPE staff and hundreds of volunteers host the Back to School Bash for registered clients with the help of local businesses and churches who sponsor the event and host donation boxes. At the Back to School Bash, children are given everything they need to start their first day of school. During this event, children receive backpacks, pencils, pens, glue, notebooks, paper, socks, underwear, jeans, and more. In addition to these items, clients get to enjoy a day of fun with games for the kids, lunch for the whole family, balloon animals, face painting, and access to additional resources.
HOPE Helps, in 2020, along with support from our community and Interfaith Coalition, provided pre-registered children in our Kids of HOPE Enrichment Program, and those referred to us, with new backpacks, school supplies, socks, hygiene products, and more to prepare them for a successful school year. Due to Covid-19, these school supplies were provided through a drive-through pick-up service vs. our traditional event where children get to walk through and “shop” at no cost for the items of their choice. For 2021 we are planning to return to a modified, safe, in-person event and are looking forward to seeing everyone in person once again.
Registration for HOPE’s Kids of HOPE Back to School bash is open and will continue through July 29th! We will be registering current clients during pantry hours Tuesday-Thursday every week. If you are not a current client but are in need of assistance for the upcoming school year, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to find out if you qualify for the Back to School Bash.
