A Story of HOPE – Ellen

A Story of HOPE – Ellen

Ellen, who is a single mother of 3, has been a HOPE client on and off for almost 10 years. She strived to provide for her family, but due to mental health issues and a lack of support to raise her kids, she struggled to maintain housing and employment. Throughout the years, she has utilized HOPE’s case management services to get assistance with utility payments, searching for jobs, maintaining Medicaid, obtaining food stamps, and applying for housing through HOPE’s resources. She and her family were provided food from our Food Pantry and hygiene products from our Resource Center. Her kids were able to participate in our Kids of HOPE Enrichment Program and received food while they were home from school during all of the school breaks throughout the year. They also got to take part in our annual events, Kids of HOPE Back to School Bash and HOPE’s Christmas in the City, where they received school supplies, backpacks, new socks, underwear and jeans, a hot family meal, Christmas presents, and much more.
Now that Ellen is stable and able to work full-time, she wants her and her family to help and give back in any way they can. She is looking into volunteer opportunities for her teens and recommends HOPE to any of her friends that are struggling. Thanks to your support over the years, HOPE was able to assist Ellen and her family and can continue to help more families who are in crisis.
