Your continued support gives HOPE to people like Rachelle. Rachelle is a single mother who has worked hard to make ends meet for many years. She is active with one of our Interfaith Coalition Faith groups and when Rachelle was struggling they sent HOPE a referral to provide her extra support like our financial counseling services, food pantry, and vouchers for the HOPE Chest. Most recently, Rachelle was at risk for eviction and really needed our financial literacy program to help her figure out how to end this cycle. Rachelle’s children are now young adults, so we involved them in the process to help the whole household learn and change habits.

As a result of participating in our financial literacy program, which included meeting 1:1 with a financial counselor, Rachelle’s children planned to contribute a fixed portion for all household expenses. Her children also expressed motivation and ideas to help increase their income. Rachelle was able to cut costs like reducing her car insurance significantly by shopping around because of her counselor’s recommendation in the session.

Now, with a plan to make ends meet moving forward, Rachelle received rental assistance from HOPE which stopped the eviction process and kept her and her children housed. Rachelle is a great example of what we do here at HOPE; collaborate with the community to assist those in crisis and provide them the tools and education to take care of themselves moving forward. Rachelle has chosen to enroll in a more in depth financial learning course at her church to progress even further.
