On Saturday, August 4th, over 400 children received new backpacks, school supplies, jeans, socks and underwear, hygiene products, a free vision screening (and free glasses if needed at a follow-up appointment with Vision Quest). The families also enjoyed a hot meal, access to a variety of local resource agencies, face painting, balloon animals by Disney artists, and visits with the 501st Legion Star Wars characters, Pawfection Therapy Dogs, and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Department who brought SnoCones!
It all started months in advance with more than 80 area businesses and churches hosting school supply collection boxes and donations from the community pouring in. Hundreds of volunteers then helped collect, sort, count and display the school supplies so families could get prepared for the upcoming school year. With the help of our sponsors Orlando Health, St. Luke’s Lutheran Church & School, Premier Pools of Central Florida, Inc. St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Bombas, OnSite Safety, Insight Credit Union, WayPointe Realty, Stevens Kitchens, Waste Pro, Vollrath Law, Pudles Pressure Washing, Karen Almond, School Board Member, Seminole County Public Schools, Oviedo Medical Center, East Coast Believers, Duke Energy, Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, and First Church Oviedo, the 10th Annual Back to School Bash went off without a hitch!
“Thank you for your support!
What an amazing day! The Back to School Bash would not be possible without the 450 volunteers who donated their time and talents, our Sponsors who ensured each child received everything they need, the Interfaith Coalition who helped plan, donate and provided financial assistance, and local community partners who collected school supplies throughout the summer, donated food for families and volunteers and stepped up to make this the most successful Bash yet.
Thank you all for your ongoing support and dedication to families in need.“
