HENS Story of HOPE

HENS Story of HOPE

HOPE’s Emergency Network Services

Meet Arnold, one of our HENS clients. He was excited to learn of his new HENS driver, Cheryl, who would be bringing his weekly deliveries since his regular driver was on vacation. Arnold has been so grateful for the in-home support the HENS program provides him and wanted to make sure Cheryl felt welcome. When Cheryl arrived at his home, she saw Arnold had crafted a homemade sign stating “Welcome Sherrill!” Seeing that sign, and Arnold’s best guess at spelling her name, made Cheryl’s day. It is wonderful how both the clients and volunteers truly benefit from the HENS program.
The HOPE Emergency Network Service (HENS) provides outreach to those who are elderly, disabled or suffering from medical issues, and are home-bound and unable to access HOPE’s services. Volunteers donate their own time and gas money to come to HOPE, pick out food suited specifically for their HENS client’s individual diets and health needs, and deliver the food to them weekly.
